Vera’s Express – 1856
Joseph Numa Vera was proprietor of Vera’s Express. By the end of Nov, 1855 “Powers” of Meek & Powers’ Express sold his interest in the company to J. N. Vera, transitioning it to Meek & Vera’s Express, with their first ad Nov 27, 1855. Their last ad was Jul 25, 1856, possibly indicating when Meek sold his interest in the company and Vera became sole proprietor. No ads for Vera’s Express have been found, so we can only speculate it covered the same route as its predecessor: Marysville to Oroville. No mention of the demise of Vera’s Express has been found.
