All that is known {of this express} so far is that they operated in Dec. 1854, connecting with Swift & Co at Petaluma, {Sonoma County, Cal.} T. Line from Petaluma to Santa Rosa, Sonoma County and Russian River, also Sonoma County. Wells Fargo & Co had an office at Russian River Station. Where they carried express matter to Moscow, Sonoma Cty. Cal. This station was in existence V.M.B. in 1897 as stated in the 1897 Directory of the W.F. & Co. Expr. It is assumed that theExpress used a handstamp.
