Editor Ken Stach receives a special “covert” Basil C. Pearce Award during Westpex, on April 25, 2026. This award was for his Black Hills and Dakota Territory series of articles included in Western Express over the years 2018-2025. Since Editor Stach is the nominating committee in this area, and since he never nominates himself, a WCS member brought this forward, and the board voted (without Ken’s knowledge) to supply this award, which was certainly merited for this series of articles.
